The planning of Irish language training strategies at organisational level and the theme of applied Irish in the workplace are key research interests at Aonad na Gaeilge. A range of language courses on the subject are available to staff of the University and these courses are advertised as part of the schedule of training courses offered by the University's Human Resources Division. A range of courses are provided to public bodies on an outreach basis also.
Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge (European Certificate in Irish)
teg is an examination system for adult learners of Irish that is linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (Council of Europe, 2001). Courses at various levels are available at UL, some of them during working hours. Levels range from Absolute Beginners to Advanced. The University has a strong tradition of language support for adult learners and we have just established an Irish language support network for members of staff. Contact us if you would like to organise workshops on language learning strategies, self-directed Irish language learning or tips on preparing for teg examinations for staff members in your workplace. www.teg.ie

The fee for participation in an accredited module on campus is €300. Fees for outreach courses depend on the number of students registered. Please contact Aonad na Gaeilge directly if you would like to discuss options further. The intensive teg courses cost between €250-€300, depending on contact hours. A reduced rate is available for UL staff.
UL Language Support Network
This is a language support network for staff who have been named as UL contacts willing to provide an Irish medium service in targeted aspects of University administration and for other University administrators/lecturers who are interested in the general promotion of Irish in their work on campus. Language support, self-directed learning, learning plans, nurturing of the Irish language campus community, and language awareness are discussed in this forum.
