UNITE the Union is the Sole Trade Union with negotiating rights onthe University of Limerick campus.
1972 - National Institute for Higher Education, Limerick opens. Association of Scientific, Technical and Managerial staff (ASTMS) becomes the trade union representing staff.
1988 - ASTMS becomes the Manufacturing, Scientific and Finance union (MSF)
1989 - NIHE, Limerick beomes the University of Limerick
2003 - MSF merges with Amalgamated Electrical Engineering Union (AEEU) to form AMICUS
2005 - AMICUS becomes UNITE the Union

If any member has an issue/grievance they should, in the first instance, contact their section representative. If their section representative is unavailable then they should contact the secretary of Unite University of Limerick Branch.
The member, in consultation with their section representative, branch chair or branch's secretary decides how best to resolve the issue/grievance. This may require consultation with the Branch Executive Committee and if necessary the
