About The Silver Apples Creche

General Information
Silver Apples crèche is a purpose -built crèche, located on-site at the University of Limerick Campus. The crèche was officially opened in January 2000 by the then Minister for Justice Equality and Law Reform, Mr John O'Donoghue. The crèche is designed to provide a full day care service to the pre school children of staff and students at the University.

Where did the name come from
Taken from the Song of Wandering Aengus by famous Irish poet, W.B. Yeats,
"And pluck till time and times are done .the silver apples of the moon, the golden apples of the sun."
This line is also carved on the foundation stone of the University and reflects how precious children are and compares them to silver and golden apples.

Opening Times
The crèche is open all year round with the exception of a 2-week closure in August each year for annual leave. The service also closes for one-week approx at Christmas in accordance with the University closure.

Our Opening Hours are 8.30am-6.00pm, Monday to Friday.
Breakfast, morning snack, dinner and afternoon tea provided for all children.
