Hello and welcome to the Mature Student Office. My name is Noreen Coveney O'Beirne and I am the Mature Student Officer at UL. Maria O'Connell is the Administrator in the office.
The office supports students studying at undergraduate degree level including those taking the pre-degree Access Course. We also support prospective students with their queries.
I hope to be of service to you as you take on the role of mature student. Many of you will be apprehensive about making a lifestyle change to that of mature student. Perhaps you have been away from formal study for a long period of time. Perhaps too your experience of the education system was not a positive one. You may now be juggling many roles, for example, that of mother/father, spouse, carer, paid worker. You are now considering the addition of a mature student role. We are aware of the difficulties you may encounter as you journey through a degree/diploma course and have created a supportive environment for you. Click on the various headings opposite to find out more about the supports and resources that are available to you throughout the university.
We will also support you by providing drop in times at the office. I have been a mature student myself and I have researched the needs and aspirations of adult learners. Pay me a visit and let me know how you are getting on. The Office is located in room number DM034 in the main building.
