It is the responsibility of SAA to maintain research registrations. This would include manual registration once the student has been approved and enrolled by the Postgraduate Admissions.
Once registered, each student is assigned events to monitor the students' record.
These events would include the following:
Ø Processing progression reports (PGR9 Form)

Students and Supervisors must complete a PGR9 once per year. It must be jointly completed and signed off by the Supervisor, student and Head of Department., and returned to SAA.
Ø Extending end dates (PGR8 Form)

An extension of the period within which the thesis can be presented may be obtained by application to the Vice President Research on the recommendation of the supervisor. Requests for extensions (PGR-8 form) must be submitted before the period on the higher degrees register has expired.
Processing Leave of Absence Requests (Leave of Absence Form)

Leave of Absence requests must be approved by the Supervisor. Applications are then brought to monthly PGR Meetings for approval by the Dean of Graduate Studies.
Ø Processing PhD Confirmation-viva outcomes (PGR-3a Form)

All PhD track students must complete written and oral presentation after 12 months, and, if required, after 18 months.
Ø Transferring Masters to PhD (PGR-3b)
