Enrolment and Registration

Enrolment

As part of your orientation week, you will be enrolled on your programme of study. During this process you will go through three stages

  • Fees Check (Fees Desk)
This ensures that you have paid the requisite amount of your fees required to be paid before you can enrol. Details of the amount due to be paid are circulated to you in advance. In the case of applicants who have applied directly to the University the amount to be paid is not the amount of the Acceptance Deposit paid when accepting your offer of a place. You will also be asked to hand in the Undergraduate Fee Declaration Form where applicable.
  • Enrolment of Personal Details on Student System (Admissions Desk)
Using the detail that you have recorded on your Enrolment Form (issued to you in advance) the student system is updated with your records. The University is obliged to collect certain information on behalf of the Higher Education Authority (HEA) which they use for statistical analysis. This information is handled confidentially and the identity of all individuals is removed in any data submitted to the HEA
  • Issue of Student ID Card (ITD Desk)
At this point your are issued with your Student ID card which you will retain for the duration of your studies. You are not issued  with a new ID card for each academic year. You Student ID card should be retained at all times and you must present your ID card when sitting examinations. In the event that you lose your ID card, replacement cards can be obtained from Student Academic Administration. There is a charge for replacement cards.

Registration

It is important that students make the distinction between enrolment and registration. Enrolment occurs once during orientation week when you join the University for the first time. Once you have enroled on your programme you must complete a registration process during the first week of each semester. The registration process is completed online and as part of this process you register for the modules that you are taking. For further details  on this process, please refer to the Student Academic Administration: Student Handbook.
