Dr Mary Shire, Vice President Research, heads the Research Office and is responsible for monitoring and providing strategic direction to the University's research activities. The Mission of the Research Office is to facilitate the growth of relevant, sustainable research and its dissemination within the communities we serve.
The office is divided into three divisions.
- Research Support Services provides assistance and intelligence to researchers on a range of funded research programmes supported by national and international agencies. The office maintains close contacts with the research councils, Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), Enterprise Ireland (EI) and various national agencies. It also liaises with the EU Commission and other publicly and privately funded international research agencies.
- The Graduate School supports the development of research degree programmes and taught postgraduate students across the six colleges of the University. It provides a "one-stop shop" for all postgraduate students.
- The Industry and Technology Transfer Office (TTO) is the specialist entity established to support and develop the innovative activity emanating from the University.
