The Quality Support Unit (QSU) is at the centre of the University of Limerick's quality improvement initiative. The QSU aims to provide help, guidance and assistance to departments that are engaged in quality review processes and working towards quality improvements.
UL Quality Statement
The University of Limerick's quality statement is as follows:
The Governing Authority, Academic Council and Campus Community of the University of Limerick are committed, through a process of continuous improvement,
(a) to enhance the quality of the University's academic programmes, teaching, research and service to the community,
(b) to maintain and improve, in all of the University's activities, processes that address the quality of:
- the total learning environment and experiences of students and staff
- the services provided both in the University and to industry, commerce and professions
- the services to the community
The University will comply with the statutory requirements of the Universities Act, 1997, relating to quality assurance and quality improvement.
QSU Resources
The QSU has a number of resources available to those who wish to use the service:
- Guidance on UL and national requirements
- Help with planning the quality review process
- Some small financial support for quality review processes
- Advice on gathering data from customers
- Training in extracting data from UL databases
- Advice and training on designing questionnaires, etc.
- Identifying and appointing suitable peer reviewers
- Arranging schedules for peer review visits and paying all fees and expenses
- Providing links to other universities that may be useful for benchmarking
