A group of residents from Southill have just completed an innovative course at the University of Limerick entitled 'Preparing for Regeneration'. The course dealt with a wide range of issues including how to deal with the media; the educational system; the criminal justice process and the workings of local goverment. Dr. Eoin Devereux, Course Director, stated "The impetus for this course came from the residents themselves in Southill. They asked the University of Limerick to provide a short course on a range of issues pertaining to the regeneration of their community. We were delighted to be able to provide the course on a voluntary basis and we look forward to working with the community again." The Preparing for Regeneration course was delivered by faculty from the Departments of Sociology; Politics and Public Administration and the School of Law. On June 4 the residents were presented with Certificates of Attendance by the President of University of Limerick, Professor Don Barry at the University of Limerick.
