UL signs a cooperation agreement with University of Science and Technology, Shanghai

The University of Limerick has signed a cooperation agreement with East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) in Shanghia on October 22nd, 2008.  The agreement aims to strengthen the relationship between the institutions starting with academic and research exchange between the Faculty of Science and Engineering at UL and the Schools of Material Science Engineering and Information Science and Engineering at ECUST.

With the prospect of rapidly increasing Irish emigration for the first time in 30 years and with the turbulent change of the past 15 years of immigration into Ireland the delegates of the conference of Irish Migration Studies, which took place at the University of Limerick recently, had much to consider.

 

Cuban Ambassador Visits UL

Cuban Ambassador to Ireland Noel Carrillo and Leonor De la Rosa of the Centre of International Collaboration with the Cuban Ministry of Culture recently visited the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick. 

 

UL Maths Professor Delivers Inaugural Lecture

UL Professor of Applied Mathematics James Gleeson recently delivered his inaugural lecture to a large crowd at UL.  Professor Gleeson's address was entitled 'The tangled webs we weave: fads, epidemics, and network'.

UL Honours its Outstanding Alumni

At a glittering black-tie evening held on Saturday, 18 October, the University of Limerick Alumni Association hosted the 3rd Annual Bank of Ireland UL Alumni Awards. Honoured this year are three UL graduates who have made outstanding contributions in their particular fields since their graduation from the University.   Awards were made to Dr Derek O'Keeffe (Achievement Award); Dr Hugh O'Donnell, CEO, Kentz Group, (Business Award); and Malcolm Quigley, Director, VSO Ireland (Humanitarian Award).
