Famous Transatlantic Rowing Boat Donated to University Arena at UL

The rowboat, Christina, has twice traversed the Atlantic and has now finally come to rest in the University Arena at UL. Christina was bought by Irish Life Investment Managers and generously donated to the University of Limerick on the 26th of May 2008.

The implications of the growing energy crisis and dwindling fossil fuel reserves, have been recognised by the University of Limerick (UL), with the establishment of the Charles Parsons Initiative on Energy and Sustainable Environment (CPI) to tackle issues of immediate national priority in energy and sustainable environment.

 

Students of UL's Irish World Academy Benefit from workshop with Music Legend

Irish World Academy at the University of Limerick hosted one of the world's greatest living artists and charismatic master of improvisation, Bobby McFerrin, who today presented an intensive collaborative workshop with music and dance students of the Academy, as well as an extraordinary public concert in St Mary's Cathedral Limerick.  Mr McFerrin was invited to Limerick by the Academy to celebrate the launch of the new BA Voice & Dance Programme, which commences in UL in September. McFerrin's visit to the Irish World Academy is in association with Walton's New School of Music in Dublin.

 

UL Health Science Students Volunteer in Chernobyl

A group of over 20 University of Limerick students will travel this week to Goradishche in Chernobyl in order to carry out volunteer work across a number of orphanages and adult asylums in association with the Burren Chernobyl Project. The students, who are all undertaking health science programmes at UL from nursing to physiotherapy and medicine, will carry out massage with the children and patients as well as simply interacting them on a daily basis. 

 

Limerick Business Leaders come out in Support of UL's KBS at President's Dinner

Many of Limerick's key business leaders came out in support of the fifth annual University of Limerick President's Gala Dinner, which was held in Dromoland Castle.  Proceeds from this year's event will go towards the newly completed Kemmy Business School.
