Kelly Collins, from Abbeyfeale, Co Limerick has been selected as the second recipient of the Edith and Leslie Downer Scholarship at the University of Limerick.
Roger Downer, UL President Emeritus, set up an endowment fund in memory of his mother Edith and father Leslie, to fund a scholarship in the area of nursing studies. The Edith and Leslie Downer Scholarship is awarded annually to a first year Nursing Student (born and resident in Ireland) attending the University of Limerick. The Scholarship is valued at €1,500 and is awarded on the basis of performance in the Leaving Certificate.
The Edith and Leslie Downer Scholarship recipient for 2007/078 is Kelly Collins from Abbeyfeale Co Limerick who was a student in St Joseph's Secondary School and is now studying at UL for the B.SC in Nursing (Intellectual Disability). After graduation Kelly hopes to work with children with autistic spectrum disorder.
