The Programme

The Study Abroad Programme is open to international students who wish to spend a semester or year at UL and earn academic credit which may be incorporated into their home institutions transcript. We enjoy a diverse population of students on the programme who come from the USA, Japan, Thailand, China, Korea, Australia and many European countries. 


Forum on Education Abroad
In May 2008, UL achieved a positive determination from the US Forum on Education Abroad for the quality of its Study Abroad Programmes. For further details on the Forum's Standard of Good Practice please see www.forumea.org 


Programme Highlights

  • Fully integrated with Study Abroad students joining the domestic student population -in class, housing and Clubs & Societies
  • Freedom to choose classes from across all faculties in order to fulfil major, minor and/or general education requirements
  • Two week trial period to experiment with course selections before committing to classes to ensure they are at an appropriate level and you are comfortable with choices
  • Complimentary membership for the University Arena
  • Field Trips

 Complimentary Airport & Orientation

  • Study Abroad students are collected from Shannon International Airport each semester on the Tues/Wed prior to Orientation
  • Pre-Examination and Pre-Departure meeting specifically for Study Abroad students at the end of each semester
