Student Notebook, Software & Networking Information

ITD recommends that all students purchase their own Notebook computer. The University is well equipped with wireless (WiFi) access points and wired and WiFi is provided in all University on-campus accomodation. ITD recommends that you purchase a Notebook with the following minimum specification:

3Gen Intel Quad Core i3 Processor
1Tb HD, 7200rpm
15" TFT
WiFi, Bluetooth, Built-in camera
Ethernet adapter, WiFi Intel 802.11a/b/g/n


You must ensure that you have anti-virus software and you may want to consider other software for your PC (see the link Software for Home Use).

Help with configuring your Notebook on the UL Network

Students with problems configuring their notebooks to the UL Wireless can attend a clinic in the Library every Mon, Wed & Thu 2:30 - 3:30 during term.


NB: ITD provide this information without any responsibility for the reliabilty and quality of goods and services provided by any of the vendors. NB: Although ITD does not support the Apple MAC computer it will work on the University network.
