ITD has a Print Room whose work is mainly concerned with printing large volumes of paper - over Eight million copies per annum. Currently most black and white printing is carried out on a Xerox Docutech 6180 machine. A Xerox Docucolor 5252 machine provides colour printing. A full range of finishing equipment gives the ability to multifold finished documents and booklets.
The Print Room provides three types of printing service.
- Department or Division Printing (in colour or black & white)
- Student Lecture Notes
- Private or Outside Organisation Printing
- Finishing Services (Binding, Laminating, booklets, folding etc).
The beginning of each academic term, and the period prior to exams are always very busy periods in the Print Room so to avoid disappointment please submit your copy requirements well in advance of these periods i.e. at least one week in advance.
Work maybe collected and submitted to the Print Room during opening hours which are 9.15am to 4.45pm.
Department or Division Printing
Staff of the University, who wish to have documents printed, bound etc. should bring them to the Print Room where a Job Requirement folder should be completed with all job details and the relevant approved University Cost code.
Student Lecture Notes
The Print Room will print lecture notes that staff want students to purchase. The student lecture notes will be printed and bound and then sold directly to students at no cost to the staff member or department concerned. Students are charged a fixed price per page. Unsold copies of notes will be charged to the relevant department after a reasonable period.
Private or Outside Organisation Printing
All other material printed for other bodies or individuals, for example the Student's Union, clubs, societies, external organisations, personal work etc., will be charged at the rate ruling at the time of printing and must be paid for when being collected. All work is carried out on a strictly rotational basis.
Documents can be velobound, stapled or glue bound as required. Binding will be charged for at the appropriate rate.
