I would like to set up my voicemail

Put the forwarding on your phone.

  • Press *44 444#  (ensure the right number of 4's are given!!). 
  • More detailed instructions are contained in the document New - Voice Mail Creation
  • I have tried this but I am getting a message saying I can not have voicemail as the phone is shared/voicemail set up already.
  • E-mail service.desk@ul.ie to have this sorted.

 I have set up my voicemail but it is not cutting in.

  •  You have not put the forwarding on your phone. Press *44 444#

How do I pick up my voicemail messages?

  • From your office phone ring 449
  • Enter your password ( default is your phone extension) followed by #
  • Your voicemail messages will be played.

How do I pick up voicemail messages from another UL phone

  • Dial 441
  • Enter your extension number followed by #
  • Enter password (default is your phone extension) followed by #
  • To listen to your messages press 3

 How do I pick up voicemail messages from home or your mobile

  • Dial 061 234200
  • Enter your extension number followed by #
  • Enter password (default is your phone extension) followed by #
  • To listen to your messages press 3

 I am the only user of my phone - how can I get my voicemails to go to email?

  • All voicemails to to Email.

 I would like to change my voicemail pin/password from the default for security reasons

  •  Dial 449 from your office phone
  • Enter pin/password followed by #
  • Press 9 for mailbox options
  • Press 3 to change password which must be between 6 and 24 characters long
  • Follow prompts 

The default greeting is not sufficient for my needs I would like to record my own voicemail message.

  • Go to https://voicemail.ul.campus
  • Ignore the error message which appears (you entered an invalid user name or password. Please try again)
  • Login with your telephone number as the user name and your telephone password (default is your phone extension unless you have changed it as above)
  • Your voicemail settings are displayed as a screen split into two panes.
  • The left pane gives your menu options (User Data, Voice Mail System Settings, Forward Access Menu etc).
  • Clicking to choose any of these options will give its corresponding  data and available options displayed in the right hand side pane.

To record your greeting click on Recordings in the left pane.

  • Click the Create box.
  • Click Personal Greeting and select the method Record via telephone then click Create.
  • You will be rung on your own telephone number to start the recording.
  • If you are at another internal number change the window prompt that comes up to that number.
  • The phone will ring. Answer it.
  • When you are ready press Record.
  • Wait for the  short beep on the phone and then speak your greeting.
  • When finished press Pause.
  • Press Play to hear your greeting then Exit and Save when you are happy with it.
  • This is your number 1 greeting and you can record 8 other messages if you want.

How do I get this recorded message to come up in voicemail?

  • Go here:  https://voicemail.ul.campus
  • After logging in click on Time Profiles in the left hand pane.
  • Under the Monday settings click the down arrow in Alternate Greeting and select 1 which is your first recorded message.
  • Tick the box underneath that says Use Monday settings for whole week then Save (scroll down the page, you may not see it other wise).
  • This setting will play your message between business hours of 08.00 a.m. and 05.01 p.m.
  • You can change these business hours (keep the same syntax of HH;MM) After business hours the message coming up will be the default system one unless you specify your own message again in the After-hours greeting box.

 I don't  want to record a long message. Just insert my name followed by my number.

  •  Ring 449 from your own phone or 441 from another internal phone.
  • Dial 8 for answering options
  • Press 4 for recorded name
  • Press * then # when finished recording

I want to forward a voicemail message to someone else's phone.

  • Save or delete the message -do not hang up
  • Press 9
  • When prompted record your message. Press *# when finished.
  • Enter extension number, press #
  • Confirm with #
  • Send with #

 What are the forwarding options?

To forward calls when the phone is busy/not answered

  • dial *44 444# on the telephone handset.
  • To cancel this setting dial #44
  • To forward all calls to voicemail (the phone will not ring) dial *41444#.
  • To cancel this setting dial #41

To forward all calls to another extension when the phone is busy/not answered

  • dial *44[insert number]#.
  • To cancel this setting dial #44 This is for internal UL numbers

If you want to forward to an external number when the phone is busy/not answered

  • dial *440[insert number]#
  • To cancel dial #44  [N.B. You should be aware when using this and the following option that your extension will get the bill for the forwarding not the caller]

And if you want to forward all calls straight to an external number then dial

  • *410[insert number]. To cancel  dial #41

What playback controls can I use?

At end of message

  • Save message   4
  • Delete message 6
  • Replay message 73

While listening to messages

  • Skip message *2
  • Delete while listening *6
  • Save while listening *4
  • Pause playback *
