The Department offers undergraduate level programmes in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Computer Aided Engineering & Design, each leading to a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (BE). A unique feature of these programmes is the opportunity as part of the degree to spend eight months work experience within industry.
At the postgraduate level the Department offers programmes in Aeronautical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering leading to a Master of Engineering (MEng) and in Biomedical Engineering leading to a Master of Science (MSc).
The department also offers a Graduate Diploma/Masters of Technology in Computer Aided Engineering Product Design.
Research within the department covers a wide range from wave energy to biomedical devices to nanotechnology. Further information may be found on the Research pages.
Our graduates are in high demand by industry: 96% of our 2006 graduates entered directly into work or postgraduate study within six months of graduating.
