The Kemmy Business School consistently focuses on ensuring that its undergraduate programmes meet the needs of students to prepare them for careers in management and the professional business disciplines in the public, private and voluntary sectors. The School established a strong relationship with business and the wider community and facilitated the participation of key stakeholders in programme design and delivery.
The Bachelor of Business Studies (BBS) is the largest single programme in the University of Limerick with an annual intake of 350-400 students. Demand is exceptionally keen for this programme with graduate employment close to 100 per cent in recent years.
The University of Limerick was the first Irish University to include Cooperative Education in all its undergraduate programmes. Students are required to undertake a period of work experience in a business setting during their programme of study. This unique feature ensures that undergraduate students gain practical work experience in Ireland or overseas, prior to graduation.
The Kemmy Business School has now introduced a flexible learning variant of the BBS programme. The Bachelor of Business Studies (Hons) by Flexible Learning programme allows students, whose work or family commitments mean they are unable to attend a full-time programme, to gain a quality business qualification. With this course, you study at a time, place and pace that suits you without giving up your existing commitments.
Another exciting development in the School is the introduction of the new BA in International Business (Honours Bachlor Degree) which will be offered in the AY2012/13. This programme is a response to stated EU, Government and University objectives on achieving greater student mobility as well as adopting a student-centred approach to learning. A key feautre of this programme requires students to undertake a combination of study and work outside of Ireland.
The Kemmy Business School also offers part-time management and professional programmes at undergraduate level.
The suite of programmes offered by the KBS embrace the development of strong analytical skills, critical thinking capabilities, questioning minds and the ability to think and act creatively when required. The School aims to enable students to grow in their personal capacities and to develop characterictics of self-confidence and self-reliance and to have the capacity to adapt to changing circumstances both at work and in society.
