Welcome to the Department of Personnel and Employment Relations, one of four constituent Departments in the Kemmy Business School here at the University of Limerick. The Department comprises a team of leading academics working in the allied fields of human resource management, organisational behaviour, work psychology and employment relations. It enjoys an outstanding reputation, nationally and internationally, for excellence in research and teaching. In recognition of its academic achievements in these areas and its dedication to enhancing all aspects of the people management profession, the Department has been a Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) designated Centre of Excellence since 1999. It is the only such Centre in Ireland, and one of only 12 internationally.
The Department offers a suite of programmes at Certificate, Bachelor, Master and Doctoral levels. In addition, the Department, working in conjunction with the Graduate Centre of Business, offers a comprehensive Doctoral Research Programme. Since 2002 Departmental Faculty have supervised some 20 PhDs to completion and another 20 are currently researching for their doctoral theses.
Faculty in the Department of Personnel & Employment Relations are leaders in their respective fields. They work collaboratively with a network of scholars from leading Business Schools around the world on several cutting edge research projects and have had significant success in attracting research funding from a wide range of public and private sources. They publish in prestigious international journals, hold a wide range of journal Editorial Board Memberships, host prestigious scientific conferences, and author leading textbooks and research compendiums.
