Helena Lenihan

Short Profile:
Helena Lenihan is a Senior Lecturer in Economics. She is twice winner of the University of Limerick 'Excellence in Teaching Award'. During the Academic Year 2007/2008, she was a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Business Research (CBR) at Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, UK. Concurrently, she was a Visiting Fellow at Wolfson College, University of Cambridge, UK (Jan-June 2008). She spent June 2008 as a Visiting Academic at the Centre for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (CSME), Warwick Business School, University of Warwick UK.

Helena Lenihan's research is in the area of Business Economics. In particular, she is concerned with issues of Business Development, survival and Growth. More specifically, she is concerned with looking at issues of innovation and R&D; networking; and industrial policy interventions that affect business growth and success. She is also concerned with the evaluation of government interventions as they relate to the above. Helena Lenihan has a strong interest in comparative perspectives, for example, looking at the issue of whether the Irish industrial policy approach may provide lessons for other countries (e.g. newer EU member states; developing countries in Africa). Overall, her research has a strong policy dimension and issues are analysed from both applied and theoretical perspectives.
