"The Department of Psychology strives to be a leading centre of Psychological Research & learning that advances knowledge and addresses contemporary Social Issues"

Welcome to the Department of Psychology at UL. The Department of Psychology at University of Limerick came into being in August 2007. Our new and vibrant department has an explicit focus on the area of Social Psychology, making it unique in Ireland. The Department is aiming to consolidate its current excellent research profile in areas of social psychology such as social identity, social development, social cognition and decision making, minority majority relations, prejudice, social exclusion and crowd behaviour. Graduates interested in pursuing research degrees are encouraged to contact the department.

The Department is keen to develop research collaborations and is always willing to host international researchers on short-term or long term research visits. We will provide support as best we can to make such visits enjoyable, fruitful and informative.

In terms of teaching, we offer a BA in Psychology and Sociology in conjunction with the department of Sociology, we also contribute to the BA Joint Honours offered in the College of Humanities and the BA Law plus Psychology. From 2009 will offer a BSc in Psychology. An MSc in Psychology is planned to commence in 2010.
