Medical Art Collection

The UL Graduate Entry Medical School aims to enhance students' knowledge and understanding of peoples' experiences and emotions in relation to health and sickness through study of the arts, including the visual arts. To this end, the School offers a 'Special Studies Module' for 3rd Year students with a specific focus on the 'Humanities in Medicine'.

As part of this focus on the Humanities, the Medical School is compiling a collection of paintings that have some reference to health and illness.  In time, this collection will be housed in the Medical School building on the UL campus, where it will be on view to the campus community and to the public.  'Professor Paul Finucane, Foundation Head, Graduate Medical School, University of Limerick, July 2008"
